Founded in 2002 by Colin Harmer, Creative Motorsport Solutions specializes in the design and manufacturing of electronics systems for all types of racing and motorsport vehicles. We pride ourselves in being one of the very few wiring houses in the United States to utilize a CAD solution for wiring harness design and production.
In addition to being one the country’s top tier dealers carrying hundreds of Bosch’s products, we are also one of only three Bosch Motorsport certified harness manufacturer in the US. We offer the very best in products and support to get the most out of the systems we deploy. By using our in-depth knowledge of systems and their capabilities we can help you find the best solution for your application.
At CMS, we pride ourselves in taking the "napkin sketch" given to us by a client and converting it into a comprehensive CAD drawing for client approval.
Using the Tyco "Harnware" suite of CAD tools, the loom is designed and build documentation is is created. Everything from cut lengths, layup requirements, materials, connectors, and the time it takes to build the loom is derived from the design software. CAD shapes can also be created to ensure precise fitment in the most demanding of applications.
We are able to custom design you a system to be the perfect solution for your application. Some of the most common harnesses that we design are:
Engine Harnesses
- Chassis Harnesses
- Data Wiring Harness
- Power Distribution Harnesses
- Gear Box Harnesses
- Signal Harnesses
- Power Harnesses
We build mostly all our harnesses according to the Raychem/TE Connectivity “System 25” material system, as it is the industry standard for most motorsport harness builds. Utilizing Raychem Spec 55 Aircraft wire (which is a Teflon jacketed with tinned copper conductors), laid up in a concentric twist in as many layers as required for the specific custom wiring harness – we use DR-25 heat shrink tubing as the outer layer and finally the loom is glued together at all junctions with epoxy ensuring the highest quality product possible. If required, we also stock a full range of the Raychem “System 12” parts, which are made of Viton and suitable for immersion in all fuels (including ethanol-based fuels) to guarantee optimal performance.
The final step is to analyze the harness using our Hi-Voltage testing equipment from CAMI Research. Using our CableEye HVX tester, we are able to fabricate custom fixtures to test each and every pin, socket and wire in every connector for accurate pin to pin information for the entire wiring system. Once the correct continuity is confirmed the system then applies an impressive 500v to each line to ensure that the insulation is perfect. There is no better way to ensure the harness build is going to be at peak performance for a long time, even under the harshest of conditions. And finally a test report is then supplied with each harness. After hours on end of hard use on the track, we give customers the option to return their loom for re-testing and compare the results to the initial test from when the loom was built.
