Electronic Throttle Body (Drive-by-Wire)

Ten bore sizes from 32 to 82 mm, each with redundant position sensing and a fail-safe idle position, for engines running electronic throttle control.

Precise Drive-by-Wire Airflow Control

The Bosch Electronic Throttle Body (ETB) controls the fresh air into a spark-ignition engine as part of an electronic throttle control (ETC) system. A typical ETC system has three parts: the throttle body, an accelerator pedal module, and an ECU with ETC functionality. The ETB connects directly to any control unit that supports ETC.

Each body uses two redundant position sensors with opposing outputs (0 to 5 V and 5 to 0 V across 0 to 90°), so the ECU can cross-check throttle position. Every unit defaults to an idle air position, and flex-fuel, CNG and LPG applications are permitted when fuel is injected after the throttle body.

What sizes does the Bosch electronic throttle body come in?
We offer 10 bore sizes: 32, 40, 46, 50, 52, 54, 60, 68, 74 and 82 mm. The size chart above lists the Bosch part number, flange diameter, weight and mating connector for each.

Is this a drive-by-wire (DBW) throttle body?
Yes. It's an electronic, drive-by-wire throttle body: an ECU with electronic throttle control drives the motor and reads the two position sensors, working with an accelerator pedal module instead of a throttle cable.

What connector does the Bosch throttle body use?
Most sizes use Bosch connector D261.205.358-01. The 46 and 52 mm bodies use D261.205.356-01. Both are available from us, and other motorsport and automotive connectors can be supplied on request.

Which ECUs can run a Bosch electronic throttle body?
Any ECU with electronic throttle control (ETC) functionality. The ECU needs to read both position outputs and drive the throttle motor. Send us your ECU model and we'll confirm.

Can I use it with E85, flex fuel, CNG or LPG?
Yes, Bosch permits flex-fuel, CNG and LPG applications as long as the fuel is injected into the air flow after the throttle body.

How do I choose the right bore size?
Start with your intake manifold's flange and your engine's airflow needs, then check that your ECU's throttle tables can handle the larger bore. Tell us your engine, manifold and ECU and we'll recommend a size.

Returns Policy

You may return most new, unopened items within 7 days of delivery for a full refund (less the cost of shipping). Special order items will be subject to a restocking fee, so please contact us before sending your item. Your refund will process within one week of Creative Motorsport Solutions receiving your item. Please note the time it takes your bank to process your refund may take up to 5 to 10 business days.
